Vancouver’s first FIFA World Cup 2026™ match delivers TransLink’s busiest Saturday since the Olympics at stations around BC Place

System-wide ridership topped one million boardings

VANCOUVER, BC – On June 13, TransLink recorded its busiest Saturday ridership for a BC Place event since the 2010 Olympics, as thousands of fans relied on transit to get to Vancouver’s first FIFA World Cup 2026™ match, the FIFA Fan Festival, work, and destinations across Metro Vancouver.

See below for TransLink’s full preliminary ridership report for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Vancouver match on June 13, 2026.

June 13 FIFA ridership match report

System-wide, TransLink saw more than one million boardings and approximately 648,200 trips — a nearly 18 per cent increase in trips compared to a typical Saturday.

Ridership around BC Place reached historic levels, with stations that serve the stadium seeing the highest Saturday event-day ridership since the 2010 Olympics. Ridership at those stations surpassed both Taylor Swift’s Saturday Eras Tour concert and the Lionel Messi match at BC Place.

SkyTrain saw especially strong demand, with almost 450,000 boardings, up 25 per cent compared to a typical Saturday. SeaBus saw the highest percentage increase by mode, with ridership up more than 37 per cent.

The overall increase in ridership shows the important role transit plays in moving people for large events, while also keeping people connected to businesses and other destinations across the region.

Notes:

  • A boarding occurs every time someone boards any vehicle.
  • A trip is a full transit journey from end-to-end including transfers. One trip may have several boardings due to transfers.
  • “A typical day” is defined as what ridership was projected to be if the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Vancouver was not taking place. It is calculated through recent ridership patterns and last year’s ridership on the same day.
  • This ridership report is based on preliminary data, and exact figures may change as ridership estimates are finalized.
